About MMK Today
Last updated: 23 October 2026
MMK Today publishes Myanmar gold prices, exchange rates and fuel prices. Every number on this site comes from a source we can name. This page explains exactly where each figure comes from, how we treat it, and — just as importantly — what we refuse to publish.
Our principle
A missing price is better than a wrong one. If a source has not published, or we cannot verify it, the value stays marked Pending rather than being filled with a guess. Yesterday's price is never presented as today's.
What is on the board
- Market exchange rates — parallel-market ဝယ်/ရောင်း quotes, not official rates.
- Myanmar gold price — local 16 ပဲရည် စနစ်ဟောင်း, plus စနစ်သစ် and other grades.
- World gold — international spot price per troy ounce, kept separate from local gold.
- Bank counter rates — published buy/sell rates from Myanmar banks, for customs and official use.
- Market headlines — gold, dollar and exchange-rate headlines read from the published market channels (Telegram), refreshed several times a day.
- Crypto market prices — USD spot prices and OHLC candles from CoinGecko for a fixed set of ten coins, kept separate from Myanmar FX and bank panels.
- Fuel prices — retail fuel references.
Our sources
Market exchange rates
The website's currency table uses all 21 same-day buy/sell pairs from SetLive so the rates share one source and timestamp. SetLive does not state which shops or changers supply its figures, so we identify it as the publisher rather than claiming independent shop verification.
- SetLive — the source for the website's 21 currency pairs; each row keeps SetLive's own recorded time.
- Every currency on the table comes from that one board, so two rows can be compared against each other directly.
- A single-point reference is never shown as a buy/sell pair.
Gold prices
Every gold price on the board comes from SetLive: the four Myanmar grades (16 and 15 ပဲရည်, old and new system) and the world spot. One source means one timestamp and one quote type across the whole gold panel.
- SetLive — source for the Myanmar grades and the world spot, each with the source's own timestamp. SetLive does not disclose its upstream feed, so we show it as the publisher and do not claim independent shop verification.
- Price history — built from prices previously saved on this site. Each history row identifies its own source, so a row from an earlier source is never presented as a SetLive reading.
A gold figure is a market quote, not a promise to buy or sell at that price. The banks' own counter rates are listed separately below.
Bank counter rates
These are rates published by the banks themselves. We list only banks whose published rate we can read and verify directly, and we show the date each bank posted it.
- UAB — read from the bank's own published exchange-rate page.
- AYA Bank — read from the bank's published foreign-exchange counter table.
We do not currently list KBZ, CB, AGD, MKB, SCB or OCBC. Several of their sites block automated access, so we cannot verify their published rates. We would rather show two verified banks than eight unverified ones. Other banks may publish different figures on their own channels.
We do not publish the Central Bank of Myanmar reference rate on the board. Its rate sits far below the street rate, and showing both invites confusion about which one people actually trade at.
Fuel prices
Fuel figures come from SetLive's Yangon retail board, per litre and with the board's timestamp. SetLive does not independently disclose how it gathers those prices.
How we calculate
Currency conversion. The on-page converter uses the midpoint of the published market pair. A conversion is always an estimate, not an offer, and real trades include fees and spreads.
Gold grade conversion. Other gold grades are scaled from the 16 ပဲရည် quote using each grade's actual purity fraction — not a simple "divide by sixteen" shortcut, which would under-price every lower grade. For reference: 16 ပဲရည် 99%, 15 ပဲရည် 95.3%, 14 ပဲရည် 87.5%.
What we will not do
- We do not publish official or central-bank rates as market rates.
- We do not carry yesterday's price forward as today's.
- We do not present a single-point reference as a buy/sell pair.
- We do not infer a bank's rate from another bank's.
- We do not accept advertising in exchange for a rate or its position on the board. Sponsored placements are labelled and kept separate from price data.
Corrections
If you believe a figure here is wrong, or a source has published a rate we have missed, please tell us at info@mmktoday.com. Corrections from sources are welcome and are how this board stays accurate.
